About Us

Here's our brief story on how We Teach Fashion was conceived and what's our vision for both fashion experts and fashion students. We hope this brief intro helps you feel connected to us and want to join us on our journey or to contact us to find out more.

Our Vision

We see a future where individuals like you, that have expertise in the field of fashion, are sharing that expertise to a global audience of fashion students eager to learn and develop their skills and knowledge.

We see a future where students will turn to the device of their choice, to learn directly from a bank of fashion experts who are providing a wide range of courses that will unlock each student's full potential. They'll learn what they need to know in an engaging, fun, enjoyable and effective way by subject experts, at a time when they need it. They'll learn through "edutainment" (education that is entertaining and engaging) from material that takes between 5 minutes to several weeks or months to complete.

We see a future where experts like you have learned how to take their expertise and develop educational resources market them online profitably, reaching an audience without boundaries and without restrictions of time or place.

Our vision is to help you the expert, connect your expertise with these new audiences and in doing so change the face of fashion education.

Who We Are

We Teach Fashion is the brainchild of Mark and Cheryl Gregory. We're a husband and wife business team. We met at school back in the late 1970's. After leaving school Cheryl went to Cheltenham College of Art & Design and successfully completed her BA (Hons) degree in Fashion and Textile Design. In her final year she was sponsored by Mulberry and after finishing her course joined Roger Saul at Mulberry as their first designer. Eventually, it was time for Cheryl to spread her wings and enter the world of freelance design, followed by a career break whilst she raised her four children. When the time was right she returned to work and has since taught fashion at two of the UK's top independent schools and has run her own training and retail consulting firm for the past 8 years.

Meanwhile, husband Mark entered a career in the automotive industry working for international brands in the sector choosing to take his career in the field of training and development. He worked with Akzo Nobel as part of the global brand's International Training Group helping the company find innovative training solutions for its stakeholders. He then spent 5 years with BMW in Aftersales Marketing launching and managing new business innovations to secure customer loyalty and new revenue streams for the company and its dealership network. He was then head-hunted by an international automotive consulting firm which led to a successful career in consulting before he launched his own consulting business in 1995 focusing on helping clients develop their customer experiences to win more customers and retain them for longer.

In 2009 Cheryl and Mark came together to form a new consultancy business, The Customer's Shoes Ltd which is dedicated to adult education in the retail environment helping employees at all levels to develop their full potential.

In 2001 we developed the world's first online learning portal that was web based and open to anyone in the automotive industry. This was an innovation developed and launched before the likes of Facebook, and even YouTube had only just been launched and mobile phones were just that, phones!  We had the vision to use the features that technology allowed us at the time to develop a learning portal that connected subject experts with learners. It was a success and we proved then that learners wanted access to resources to develop their knowledge and skills outside of traditional classroom and face to face training.

Why Fashion And What's Driving Us?

Cheryl has a deep interest in fashion, and in our business activities training and development has been a key offering. We've a track record in setting up and running educational resources so it made sense to harness our expertise and create synergy around a resource we see lacking in the fashion sector.

All of our four children have embraced technology and used it to their advantage. Our youngest daughter Tolmeia turned 16 in May 2016. At the age of 12 she announced that she wanted to be a fashion designer and that she wanted to have her own blog to share her designs and write about fashion topics. Bless her, she was only 12! But this little hobby which you can find at tolldollyposhfashion.com quickly turned into an inspiring part of her life that has opened amazing opportunities for her. These have included working with a brand to design her own collection of socks, appearing on BBC Radio, being featured in a leading quality UK newspaper the Telegraph, as well as international video projects and webcasts to US schools.

During the past four years of her development what dawned upon us was the lack of easily accessible educational material online that she could follow that would prepare her for a career in fashion. For sure we found books and YouTube videos and traditional classroom courses being advertised but little else. There are independent sites offering some courses on topics like fashion drawing or sewing, but no comprehensive libraries with quality content, engaging user experiences and the latest in technology allowing students to follow courses where they want, using what device they want.

So Tolmeia became our guinea pig, our student avatar that we designed our first courses for and that triggered the development of our platform for students thefashionstudenthub.com

When We're Not Working

When we're not working we're travelling and enjoying everything that a change of environment and culture can bring. We're building our future around a nomadic existence of travel, education and online business development and We Teach Fashion for subject experts and The Fashion Student Hub our marketplace for fashion courses are where we're dedicating all of our time, energy and finance.

We hope this short intro inspires you to connect with us and find out how you can be part of what we're building.
